Day 5: Ace of the Red Tape

Today your mission is to renew your ID and passport. Being able to prove who you are and travel freely during a disaster is a major advantage! This step is especially important for anyone who is not cis M or F, or is part of an immigrant family. Take action to secure documents with accurate information sooner than later.

Step 1: Renew your driver license or state issued ID card.

The process varies for each state. You can search for your DMV here. The website should offer instructions for ID renewal.

Step 2: Renew your passport or apply for your first one.

If you live in the US, you’ll find all of the information you need right here. Get passports for the entire family. 

In a shocking turn of events, the US government has eliminated the most arduous task of the passport process: getting a printed photo. You can now upload a digital image online! If that’s not an incentive to renew your passport today, we don’t know what is.
